Dear Black Women,
Lately, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey that each of you undertakes. Your resilience and grace are a testament to the strength that defines you. I wanted to take a moment to honor your beauty, your struggles, and the unyielding spirit with which you weather life’s changes.
Life, with all its unpredictability, often tests our resolve. It brings storms that seem unending, and winds that challenge even the strongest of us. Yet, through it all, you shine brightly, navigating every twist and turn with a grace that is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Your courage in the face of adversity is a beacon of hope and a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is light.
Your journey is unique, marked by both triumphs and trials. Each change in weather, whether a tempest or a calm breeze, is a chapter in the story of your life. Through every downpour and every sunny day, you have shown that you are not only surviving but thriving. Your strength is woven into the very fabric of your being, and it radiates from you in ways that inspire those around you.
In times of change, it is easy to feel overwhelmed, to question the path you’re on, or to doubt your own power. Believe me, I know. But remember, you are a force of nature. Your spirit is as vast and as deep as the ocean, and your will is as enduring as the mountains. You have weathered storms before, and you will weather many more, emerging each time more resilient, more beautiful, and more powerful.
Too often, we are left to do the emotional labor in and outside of our communities to press forward. Where does this leave our well-being?
Alice Walker's words resonate with me: "those who love us never leave us alone with our grief." I often reflect on this in the context of Black women and society. Who truly supports us when we are at our lowest? Whether at work or in our personal relationships, the era of 'Black Girl Magic' can feel like a double-edged sword, blurring the lines between visibility and equality.
The realization hit me that despite fighting for improvement, I found myself unemployed. Fear fueled my anxiety and depression. All I desired was to be able to remove my strong Black woman facade and pass it on to someone who could bear the burden. Uncertainty about my future led to bouts of tears. Thank God for the Black women in my life who have listened, offered wisdom, fed me, embraced me, cried with me and then wiped my tears. Black women who have poured love and support into me.
Know that your journey is seen and celebrated. The challenges you face are not a reflection of your worth but a testament to your strength. Each obstacle is an opportunity to rise higher, to embrace your own power, and to inspire others with your story.
So, as you continue to navigate the ever-changing landscapes of life, hold fast to the knowledge that you are cherished. You are loved for your courage, your beauty, and your unwavering spirit. Your presence in this world is a gift, and your resilience is a testament to your greatness.
May you find peace in knowing that you are supported, admired, and deeply loved. Your strength is a beacon of hope, and your journey is a masterpiece in the making.
With all my love,
Archuleta
